Kitchen Design Styles
Contemporary Kitchens
Contemporary or modern kitchen design tends to be minimalist and geometric. Characteristics include horizontal lines, asymmetry and a lack of moulding and other ornamentation. Materials often are man-made rather than natural: stainless steel, laminate, frosted glass inserts, chrome and lacquer.
Country Kitchens
Country kitchen design tends to be welcoming, with light and/or bright colours, painted and glazed cabinets with wire or metal inserts, woven baskets, floral motifs, and decorative shelving and moulding. Essentially a cottage or farmhouse style associated with the look of a traditional English, French or Tuscan country kitchen.
Old World Kitchens
Old World kitchen design styling encompasses a wide range of design themes, including Tuscan, Mediterranean, medieval, Castle, French Chateau, Italian Villa, and Normandy or Dutch cottage. A grand but worn look - distressed, unfitted cabinets, and large kitchen range. Also natural materials such as stone floors, mosaic tiles, brick or plaster walls and pewter or copper accents.
Traditional Kitchens
Traditional kitchen design tends to be both formal and elegant, but also practical. The design styles take their characteristics from Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian, Regency, and Italianate. Appearance wise, more ornate mouldings; elegant cabinets in cherry, walnut and mahogany; and antique fixtures.
Transitional Kitchens
Transitional kitchen design tends to be eclectic mixing elements of both traditional and contemporary design. Such as natural and man-made materials as well as finishes and textures. Moulding and fixtures aren't elaborate but do have some ornamentation.

Colchester Kitchen Company - FAQ
Q. Do Colchester Kitchens offer a free kitchen design Service ?

We provide a professional design and quotation service. Many companies that actively promote free design are actually unable to provide the same level of assistance as us. We do not charge directly for our service - but release all designs, plans and quotation only upon agreement and contract to proceed with the kitchen project. This way we can ensure that you are given accurate information.
Remember a free design and quotation service may well be only what it says.
Q. How much do your kitchens cost ?
We supply all sorts of kitchens, so the answer depends on many variables but roughly you should budget for a minimum of £2,000 to £12,000 for a quality kitchen, plus worksurfaces, appliances and installation costs.
Q. How far do you travel ?
We prefer to work locally around Essex, generally within a 25 mile radius of Colchester. This is to give the best possible service to our clients.
